Police seize over 200 cartons of illegal cigarettes in Peak Hill

Police have seized hundreds of cartons of illegal cigarettes and vapes valued at more than $70,000 in Peak Hill.

About 4:30pm on November 27 , officers attached to Central West Police District stopped a Renault Koleos on the Newell Highway at Peak Hill due to the manner of driving.

A search of the vehicle located 5.9kg of loose-leaf tobacco, 252 cartons of illegal cigarettes and 310 vapes with a street value of $74,000.

The tobacco, cigarettes and vapes were seized for forensic examination.

The 48-year-old male driver was charged with possess tobacco five kilograms or above, convey tobacco products know of intent defraud, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime more than $5000, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen or unlawfully obtained.

The driver was issued with a Court Attendance Notice to appear at Parkes Local Court on Monday, January 27, 2025.
