Parkes Trishaw, Cycling Without Age has been in town for over two years now and in that time volunteers have taken over 700 people from local nursing homes out for a ride to 'feel the wind in one's hair'.
This free ebike Trishaw ride aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness within the community, allowing the elderly, infirm and people with disabilities to get outdoors on a regular basis.
Parkes Trishaw also know that there are people within the community in their own homes who do not have the same opportunity as the nursing home residents do to have a free trishaw bike ride around town.
To fix this, Parkes Trishaw have designed a 20 minute route starting from the new Coffee shop at Bushmans Dam, The Thirsty Bushman. This new route has been in effect since Saturday, June 29 and has proved to be popular with residents.
There is also more exciting news for Parkes Trishaw with Charles Sturt University Students commiting to voluntary work with Parkes Trishaw. CSU Medical in Context placement students will take part in this voluntary work around their medical training in Parkes.
