Today we relive the autumn weather with Parkes' autumn weather rundown and take a look at what the Bureau of Meteorology has told us to expect for the rest of the winter season.
Autumn was warmer than usual in most of Australia with Parkes recording an average of 24.5 degrees for the autumn season.
This was above Parkes' average autumn temperature of 23.9 degrees.
Monthly temperature averages saw 30.9 degrees in March, 23 degrees in April and 19.5 degrees in May.
The hottest Autumn day was recorded on March 7 reaching 36.7 degrees and the coldest day was recorded on May 19 dropping to 14.5 degrees.
The highest amount of rainfall recorded in autumn was 25.8mm on April 6 with a total of 17.8mm for the month of March, 66.2mm for April and 35.6mm for May.
The Bureau of Meteorology has reported that following on from our warmer than average autumn we should also expect a warmer than average winter continuing into the year.
It is likely that New South Wales will experience winter day-time and night-time temperatures in the top 20 per cent of historical temperatures.
Rainfall is expected to be typical for the season this year with no extreme above or below average rainfall predicted as well as a normal winter fire risk across Australia.
If the winter outlook from the Bureau of Meteorology proves to be correct, this year's winter could be even warmer than last year's record warm winter which recorded a national temperature 1.53 degrees above the 1961-1990 baseline average.
Although a warmer winter is likely this year, cold spells and frosts are still expected.
We are also currently at LaNina watch as there are signs that a LaNina may form later in the year, however, this does not guarantee a LaNina will evolve.
So far we have experienced 9.6mm of rainfall in the first week of winter.
The Parkes Airport has recorded a daytime high temperature of 16.4 degrees on June 1, and the lowest daytime temperature of 11.5 degrees on June 4.
Of course we're all looking at the long weekend weather forecast Parkes is expected to be overcast with daytime temperatures reaching 15 degrees. There's a 50 per cent chance of 1-5mm of rain.
Rug up in your finest winter fashion and we will see you at the races!
There is a moderate frost risk Monday but the sun is then expected to make an appearance.
