The pub won the people’s choice award for best regional pub at the TimeOut Pub Awards in Sydney, beating 50 other regional venues.
“For a new venue, an award like this is an extremely gratifying sign that we’re doing something right,” co-owner and chef Hugh Mawter said.
“We owe a huge thanks to everyone who voted for us and can’t wait to catch up for a beer at The Lord Anson with them all.”
Co-owners Emma and Nicholas Bacon accepted the award in Sydney.
Mr Bacon said the pub’s second floor, the Upper Deck, will soon be opened to the public for functions.

ROOM TO GROW
Botanica Flora is growing and the florist will move down the road to 217 Lords Place, joining Good Eddy and Belle Armoire Boutique.
“We’ve outgrown our space. It’s a fabulous building, but it’s too small,” owner Libby Reimers said.
Mrs Reimers said the move would be an opportunity to collaborate with other businesses.
“It’s about creating an experience when people walk into the shop, we have a beautiful mixture of art and flowers, everything is made to order,” she said.
The move will mean Botanica Flora will be temporarily closed from June 1 until June 14.

FOUNDATION
Millthorpe’s Old Mill Cafe is up for sale.
Selling agent Gary Blowes said after building up the cafe and several other businesses, owners Darren Tracey and Stacey Ewin were looking to spend more time with their family.
“It’s a well priced opportunity and a very successful business,” Mr Blowes said.
He said it was a “once in a lifetime opportunity” for an established business and would suit chef or someone with similar experience.
BEST OVERS
Not everyone loves leftovers but Orange Central Square has created a way to make the “best overs” to help save customers money and reduce waste.
Recipes, tips to reduce food waste and chances to win up to $200,000 in grocery gift cards can be found at www.thebestovers.com.
Shoppers can share their creations using left overs to go into the draw for a $250 grocery voucher.
The competition runs until June 11.
