Rain disrupts weekend except for major singles match

By Colin Miller

Welcome readers, bowls has been very disrupted this week due to the weather but we did have a game of Major Singles between Nathan Reynolds and Wilbur Harris on Sunday when the sun did shine.

The game was a tussle from the start 3-all on the 3rd end and 11-all on the 13th end, with both bowlers putting down great bowls keeping the small crowd entertained. Nathan was able to win the next 5 ends each by 1 shot to take the lead 16 to 11.

Wilbur was able to get his game back on track to win 4 of the next six ends to be down only 18 to 20.

Nathan then got a 2 and a 3 to win the game 25 to 18.

Thanks to Dave Reilly for marking.

Thursday social bowls rink 16 Graham Davis, Bob Freeman and Col Mudie had a good win over Ron Hornery, John Wright and John Corcoran 23 to 13.

Rink 17 Martin Tighe and Warren Bevan had a narrow win over Jim Jennings and Brian Townsend 16 to 14.

Rink 18 Arthur Corbett and John Ward had a win over Col Woods and Ian Simpson 19 to 17.

Rink 19 Mike Valentine and Ray Jones came home against Al Affleck and Col Hayward 24 to 19.
