Dr Asitha Wickramaratne, also known as Dr Wick, from the Boorowa Street Medical Centre in Young, has taken over the previously closed clinic in Boorowa and will be opening the Marsden Street Clinic in the next six to eight weeks.
Speaking with Dr Wick, he explained that many residents had been travelling to Young to visit the clinic and concerns with patients over a certain age, as well as ill or sickly patients having to travel the around 50km to Young to seek medical assistance spurred him into action in opening the new clinic in Boorowa.
"We are pleased to announce that the Boorowa Medical Practice has officially transitioned to new ownership and is now operating as Marsden Street Medical Practice," Dr Wick said.
Dr Wick said that they are currently working with the Rural Doctors Network to find a permanent doctor for the facility, it will be open three days a week initially with Doctors from the Young clinic travelling to Boorowa to see patients.
The clinic is currently taking expressions of interest for reception staff for the Marsden Street Clinic.

A few notes for patients and potential patients from the clinic:
RECORDS:
We would like to inform you that records for patients are in question and are currently unaccounted for.
It appears that the general practitioner may have discarded these records, but we cannot confirm this or determine their current location.
We are actively trying to resolve this situation and are trying to locate the missing information.
We understand that obtaining patient histories is of the utmost importance, and resolving this issue is a high priority for us.
We are working with a number of outside parties to try and resolve this issue.
FILE TRANSFERS:
All patient records that were transferred from Boorowa Medical Practice (BOOROWA) to Boorowa Street Medical Practice (YOUNG) can be returned to Marsden Street Medical Practice at no cost should the patient request it.

All patients within the community are welcome to seek care at our practice.

Staff members at each location do not have access to files from the other practice, though records can be easily transferred upon request by our practice manager.
