Dear Editor
I would like to correct Kylie Gooch who, in her letter to you, said “the community does not want the proposed energy from waste project.”
Let me tell you Ms Gooch, I am a resident of this community and you do not speak for me.
I think this is a wonderful opportunity for Parkes and I can only guess as to the benefits it will bring to our town which has for the last few years been rather backward in its efforts to move forward.
I would also point out, to all of the complainants and to this newspaper that you have gone off half cocked before hearing and examining the facts.

(Maybe I’m just as guilty) so I urge everyone to attend the information session and also to read Councillor Westcott's letter in the CP of 4 April, it is brilliant.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING
Dear Editor
I love Parkes and am thrilled that we may have a modern waste processing facility in the Special Activation Precinct like those already in Europe and elsewhere.
These burn the waste and clean out the nasties while only emitting water vapour into the air.
The new facility will enable other businesses to establish at the precinct such as data centres, which are going to be in great demand in the future, so that many of our children, who have previously had to leave Parkes for their work, will be able to use their skills here.
The waste will be well contained as the trains will pass through Sydney suburbs, the Blue Mountains towns, Lithgow, Bathurst, Blayney, Orange and all the little towns in between enroute to Parkes and no one will be aversely affected.
If you wish to know more about these new waste to energy power stations, just Google CopenHill.
The Danes have built this amazing facility in their capital city Copenhagen which safely and cleanly supplies its homes with heat and electricity.
It will blow your mind.

UPDATE
The petition urging Parkes Shire Council to reject the proposed Waste from Energy project that's circling Parkes has now reached 1471 signatures.
A public Facebook group called 'Parkes Clean Future Alliance' has also formed since news was released on the development.
It now has 1300 members who say they are "joining the fight" to stop the project from going ahead.
They've also created a website www.parkescleanfuture.org.
