There was certainly plenty of play-time on their first day of kindy - Billie Hendry, Adeline Smith and Mahaila Murray.

Parkes East Public School has welcomed 31 kindy students this year.

They're among the 172 kinders in Parkes and 200 across the shire.

Our journalists stopped in at some of the schools in town on Thursday morning to capture the students, some with their families, on their first day of kindergarten.
